An expressionist is an artist who distorts reality to create an emotion.

As an expressionist painter I distort reality to create an emotion. I have to feel the emotion of the painting while I paint if not I stop until I can capture that emotion again. I didn't start out to be an expressionist painter it just happened. When I paint I paint fast very fast. I make no plans for my paintings I do not concern myself about results I simply approach the canvas and attack it. I have little concern for color or composition in the beginning. I want my emotions to take the lead. As I smear paint over the canvas I try to embed emotions into it. So best I can say is my paintings to me are like two strangers communicating through emotions.
